From Empire to Revolution - Update & Some Roman Progress

From Empire to Revolution
Rich just sent me the proof of the first 16 pages of the project. I am so very excited. The art that Rich has added to it is very nice. I am getting very excited about seeing this project come together at last.

Roman Update
Well it is not much of an update. Painting is going slowly. So I thought I would try to take an in progress shot. I braved the Mosquitoes and headed out with my phone and some miniatures.

They are coming along but I have a boat load more to do.

  1. Those are looking lovely. Will there be any fancy stuff on the shields or just one colour?

    1. Thanks. I found a shield design for the regiment that I am modeling. It is from this site: http://www.miniatures.de/toe-roman-cohors-quingenaria-equitata.html

I did this on the Optio's shield already. It looks OK. Its not a transfer or anything but I think it will work. I'll post later today with a picture of it. I am finishing basing them now.

  2. We are entering the bad weather period for the UK, probably 11 months LOL) so you have my sympathy regarding painting time

    1. My painting is restricted due to a large honey do list. The mosquitoes are just the price of living in the South. Sprayed the backyard the other day and it seems more like I fed them than tried to kill them.

  3. The Romans are looking good, Chris.
I know that when my wife had family in Mississippi, having the Orkin guy around to deal with bugs was a regular thing (that's where I met my first palmetto bug, ick) but somehow I don't associate mosquitoes with the South. Hmm.

    1. I guess it depends on where you live down here. I grew up in Florida where they are the state bird. The big ones can carry off small children. Where I lived in South Carolina they were bad too (Charleston and in the Piedmont). Where I have vacationed in Tennessee it was not too bad and North Carolina was not bad either.

Got to love palmetto bugs. As a kid we used to go to a friends barn. We would have tennis rackets and when he flung the doors open we used to see how many we could swat out of the air when they flew out. Good times.
