Motivation Failing.........

I am having a real problem with keeping up motivation to paint or write. I recently pulled out my WWII Italians for the East Front. I looked at them for an hour without painting a thing then put them back up. I could not even bring myself to work on the supplement for over two weeks now.

I am trying to figure out how to get back and going? I am excited about the pending release of TFL's Dux Britanniarum but I just can't seem to pick up a brush to finish off my Britons. It is not a case of distractions pulling me away this time. I am just not working on anything.

I am hoping that a vacation is all I need. I have my 20th Wedding Anniversary coming up in August and hopefully that will give a much needed recharge.

Anyway, sorry for the lack of posts here.

  1. I can understand; my recent experience just inc ase it helps: I have taken a long break from painting (mainly forced, it's true, due to a work spike) but I was already feeling as you describe. I decided to attack my reading pile instead (business travelling helped here) focused in the Vietnam war period... best decision ever! nNw that I'm in more quiet period (pre-summer holiday period) I'm progressing faster than ever. Don't get stressed by the situation, relax, shift your mind into other activities and the appetite for holding a brush will return, just don't force yourself to a false comeback

  2. That's good advice. The old 'iron discipline' approach is rubbish and just builds resentment. You'll get back into the swing of things, but it'll take as long as it takes. Relax and let your mind sort things out it its own time.

  3. Thanks folks. I will give it a rest for now. Hopefully I will regain the motivation. I really do want to finish this east front stuff.

  4. Sometimes the mojo vanishes, I'm sure it'll come back in time.

  5. Jim & I have both been talking recently about lacking motivation. Maybe ties in with the weather-I sure don't feel motivated to get out and do anything.
